Imperial Sports Ground – Case Study

Absolutely PC provide IT equipment installation and support for community sports centre.

Imperial Sports Ground, formally known as the South Bristol Sports Centre is a council facility which is run by a charity and the local community.

Featuring a wide range of facilities including football pitches, rugby fields, AstroTurf pitches, squash courts, gyms, function rooms and cafes; the facility is an asset to the local community and Bristol.

After suffering a devastating fire in May 2018, the facility has undergone a significant refurbishment and is ready to open to the public once lockdown rules allow.

Absolutely PC has worked with the team at Imperial Sports Ground since the beginning of its refurbishment, putting in place all of the necessary networking and connectivity to ensure the space functions properly.

IT Requirements

To ensure that the facility worked as a multifunctional space, Imperial Sports Ground required strong, accessible public Wi-Fi across the facility with a password that could be changed as required. Staff would also require a separate private network to connect their machines to.

Staff needed reliable hardware including PCs, printers, and laptops to be supplied and installed to the correct specification, with measures in place to reduce the risk of cybersecurity threats.

Re-opening in a COVID world, Imperial Sports Ground also needed a trusted local IT company to provide ongoing IT support for their hardware and networking equipment.

Imperial Sports Ground was looking for an IT provider that could also help with their domain management, emails, and website hosting – reducing the administration and costs involved when dealing with multiple suppliers.

How we helped

Taking their unique requirements into consideration, we recommended a range of IT solutions to ensure that their facility would be ready for the reopening and support them with their needs going forward.

Conclusion

With all the networking and connectivity equipment in place, the facility was ready for the grand reopening.

COVID-19 and the resulting lockdowns meant that the refurbishment took longer than expected, this proved challenging for the centre both operationally and administratively.  Throughout the project, we were able to quickly provide additional hardware and support as required.

The Imperial Sports Ground greatly valued the flexibility of our IT support, with our expert team on hand to support their staff as they required it.

Dealing with John and his team has been a breath of fresh air. With all the challenges that 2020 threw up, it was a relief to know that all our IT requirements were being handled by a sole, competent and knowledgeable supplier that we know we can rely on. The fact that they are a local company is a bonus.”

“Their team are extremely friendly and easy to deal with, any problems we’ve had have been sorted straight away. Throughout the refurbishment, John made a point of checking in to see how things were coming along.”

“I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Absolutely PC to other businesses for their IT requirements.

“Absolutely PC has proved to me time and time again that they are different to other hosting companies, I see them as an extension of my own business and have no hesitation in recommending them to my clients for any website hosting or wider IT support.”
